This one-day event explores two key issues of relevance to the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors following the October 2015 federal election. Maclean’s magazine’s Paul Wells will bring his keen interests in innovation policy and politics to his role as the event moderator. In the morning, academics and health policy research professionals will explore a national approach to improving access to pharmaceuticals, reviewing gaps in coverage for Canadians and proposing sustainable responses that improve equitable access to medicines in Canada. The ongoing Canadian conversation around access to medicines will set the stage for international perspectives on health and trade policy as it impacts the life sciences sector. This year’s event celebrates the strong presence of Japanese life sciences companies in Canada and the afternoon sessions offer insight into the trade dimension of health policy and how Canadian organizations may adapt to a national approach to pharmacare.  The event will conclude with a feature panel of political insiders with insights on how the next federal government will tackle health and pharmaceutical policy in Canada.

Who Should Attend?

Pharmaceutical policy professionals who want a deeper understanding of the ongoing conversation around national pharmacare and who are interested in learning about international perspectives and the impact of trade policy on Canadian health and pharmaceutical policy.Pricing is available for NFP Health Charities, Academia and NFP Associations. There are also a limited number of student scholarships available. Contact Emma Flood for details.
