An open letter from the CAHR Board of Directors to Reimbursement Professionals in Canada

The Canadian Association for Healthcare Reimbursement - rising to the challenge!

As the Canadian market access landscape changes and evolves, the challenges facing market access professionals has never been greater.  As members of the board of the Canadian Association for Healthcare Reimbursement we experience these changes not only first-hand through our involvement in our own market access initiatives but also through the invaluable feedback we get from our CAHR members. As such, we remain focused on our efforts to build a strong association of reimbursement professionals in Canada with an emphasis on providing venues for education, professional development, networking and the discussion of key industry information.

In the year ahead, CAHR will see continued development in a number of key areas.

New board members have been recruited with a diversity of backgrounds to bring fresh perspectives to our strategic planning. With these new additions we have strengthened our links to the evolving Quebec market access environment and are evolving to better represent the medical devices and diagnostic industry as well.

In 2016, in partnership with Council for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education (CCPE-CFPC), CAHR launched the Certified Market Access Professional (CMAP) training program. CMAP is a comprehensive and fully up-to-date educational program that gives you the information you need and the recognition you deserve. It covers topics as varied as networking skills and product listing agreements to health technology assessment and patient advocacy, while providing opportunities to engage with leaders and decision makers from industry, government and private insurance.

The CAHR website continues to provide members and non-members alike with information about the association and its benefits for reimbursement professionals, highlights of the latest news impacting the industry, and a calendar of events relevant to our audience. CAHR will be investing in website development to increase linkages with other key stakeholders involved in healthcare reimbursement, and offering sponsors an opportunity to become more involved with Canada’s leading market access association.

After two years partnering with Base Consulting and Management, CAHR has become a stronger association that allows us to meet the needs and expectations of our members. With the excellent support that Base Consulting provides CAHR we have been able to significantly increase our membership and strengthen our financial condition. The CAHR board looks forward to working with Base Consulting to continue the evolution of your association.

This is indeed an exciting time for market access and for CAHR. For professionals with an interest in public and private reimbursement of pharmaceutical and medical devices within the Canadian health care system, for becoming certified as a market access professional and for engaging with key market access stakeholders, CAHR membership offers unique advantages, now more than ever. We encourage you to visit the CAHR website and plan your calendars accordingly for what promises to be a year of outstanding educational and networking opportunities.
